According to vocabulary.com, “Science is the field of study concerned with discovering and describing the world around us by observing and experimenting. Biology, chemistry, and physics are all branches of science.” (Source: https://www.vocabulary.com/dictionary/science)
Sometimes scientists study things that happened in the past. Because they happened in the past, they cannot observe or measure them by conducting experiments. For example, criminal investigators gather DNA, fingerprints, clues, witness testimony, and other evidence to discover “whodunnit.” This form of science is called forensic science. In the criminal justice system, investigators cannot prove a person is guilty. A jury hears the evidence and decides if a person is guilty “beyond reasonable doubt.” In other words, the jurors make a judgement based on the strength of the evidence.
When scientists investigate the origins of the universe and all the things in it, like criminal investigators, they cannot go back to the event and observe and measure what happened. In the case of Creation science, the evidence includes eyewitness testimony. The Creator Himself, Our Lord and Savior, told us how he created everything in the Holy Bible!
Creation scientists start with the Biblical account in Genesis Chapters 1 through 11 to discover clues to point them toward evidence that they can gather in today’s world. Topical areas they study are the Creation (Chapter 1), the Fall of Man (Chapter 3), The Worldwide Flood (Chapter’s 6-9), and the Temple of Babel (Chapter 11).
We must always keep in mind, though, that we believe, by faith, that our Savior, Jesus Christ, is the Creator. That said, when the observations and experiments support God’s Word, it does strengthen our faith. And, sharing this knowledge may lead others to Christ!
